one of my goals this year was to domesticate. It's going pretty well, the beds get made every day, there's a nutritious meal made most days that will last us for at least an extra day, I'm baking bread, and the bathroom is cleaned weekly with the shower mat thrown into the laundry at the beginning of the week. We have plans for our first garden, actually we have plans for planning our first garden, tomatoes, potatoes and peas(to help feed the soil) for sure with an assortment of herbs and a selection of berries.
I could go on to say that I've embraced the whole housewife lifestyle glorying in the act of taking care of my family but I won't. On a level there is that whole satisfaction but really it's to get me organized in my mind other wise I'm adrift wandering around with no set schedule. If I get the beds made first thing I feel like I've accomplished something, If the coffee grounds make it into the compost bucket (Oh yeah, we started reducing the amount of waste leaving our house too) then I feel like I'm not being lazy, if I can do a load of laundry a day folding and putting away the load for the day before I don't feel so swamped....
but the laundry; Do I even have to say it? It's always there. there is no end to it. There are days when I feel like Sisyphus in a never ending loop of clean the laundry fold the laundry put it away and just when I feel like it's almost over... well will you look at that? the laundry bin has gone and filled itself up again...
As the title of this post so aptly states Don't even get me started on the dishes... In most cases I've already started them and washed and dried a few sinks full. I can't tell you how much I miss having a dishwasher.
boy do I feel better now...

I know! I know! I want to give my whole house a really good going through but it seems like I clean the kitchen and the bathrooms, do all the laundry, get one other room really clean and it's time to clean the kitchen, bathrooms and laundry again. The other day I told my husband our house would be a lot cleaner if we ran around naked and ate out of the pans. I don't think he's buying it.
hahaha! i am having a dishes problem too, since our dishawasher is on the fritz and now I have to hand wash everything....ugh. i must say though.. after we got our new laundry washer and dryer last year, i have kept up with the laundry... hmm.. so perhaps time to convince the husband we should get a new dishwasher....
when we had a dishwasher the husband mostly did the dishes. After a hard day at work he has back pains so the dishes are generally my job now with a little help here and there from him. I'm really lucky that the husband is an excellent partner in keeping the house clean. he's more organized than I am and keeps things ticking along way more smoothly than I can possibly do it. Also he's do the bathroom if I ask him to which puts him right up there with the other cool husbands
I think we have the same philosophy...if I just do a little each day, I don't feel so...lazy. LOL
And like you, I do one load of laundry a day so I don't get overwhelmed.
It works for me. :)
