Not so unexpected view from my window

Overcast sky suffused with predawn and hint of pink or orange, almost matching the sodium glow of the street light framed within the telephone wires, cables and power lines that criss cross the picture window. A single black crow perched below the light while a murder flies towards us, our crow takes flight in the opposite direction.

Unexpected view from my window

The neighbor (kitty corner from behind us) walking through our yard with a rake in one hand and a rescued hen tucked under his arm, a look of grim determination on his face.

No time to grab the camera just this short word picture for your amusement.

That is all.

it's all started out wrong

that's how it seems today anyway. Of course it's early and there's still time to turn it all around. It's spring break in our neck of the woods which means that the teens who live next door are partying (which means drunk and banging on the door while yelling in the backyard on the weekend) or in the back yard at 6AM dropping f-bombs as loud as they can in the backyard (that's right, this was how I was woken up today).

Either way, my sleep is interrupted. Today that meant all our sleep was shortened by at least an hour as the Peanut's attitude this morning is evidence that she was more than likely going to sleep a little later this morning than 6. Either that or she's turned over night into the whinge-miester.

Well, the whinging isn't really new today, it's been going on for a little over a week now. At the drop of a hat, or the first sign that the Peanut's will is being flouted we break into the nasal whine. This whine grates on my nerves and despite plenty of discussions about deep breaths and using words to express how we are feeling, the whine returns. on a related note I'm looking forward to some me time this weekend, just me, some paints and some glass.

So anyone else going through the whinge-fest? Gone through it? What are you doing/did you do to get past it?

donkeys, deer, dwarves and urns or at least one of each

I've moved up one block and started collecting the PCGS there now. Last week I shared my most favourite garden decor there. What I've shared with you so far is only a small percentage of what is actually on display. I could document house by house but there are so many duplicate statues that you and I would soon be bored by it all.

This weeks statuary is located in another yard that has decided against an abundance of greenery in favour of a rock garden and painted cement figures.

this is how it's done

One block up from me and a few blocks down I found this fantastic front garden, by the looks of it the backyard is just as good. If I were to indulge in a little PCGS action in my yard, this is how I'd do it.

I had a few more photographs of this postage sized lawn but for some reason they didn't quite turn out. I'll post a few more once I've gone back. You can't see it here but there are three more life sized human figures lounging around this yard. They are truly works of art and I make a point of walking by every time we go to the library

This Weeks PCGS

I'm itching to knock on the door of this house and ask permission to photograph in detail all the statuary on display. One of my favourite examples by far of painted cement statuary is the working fountain. Photographing the rest of the garden from behind a fence really doesn't do it justice.

It's Monday

and I'm thinking, in as few words as possible:
